Equipment

  1. Bow – The primary tool used to launch arrows; varies by type (recurve, compound, longbow)

  2. Arrows – Made of wood, aluminum, carbon, or composites; matched to bow type and archer’s strength

  3. Sights – Help improve aiming accuracy by aligning the target

  4. Stabilizers – Add weight and reduce vibration for better balance and precision

  5. Finger Tabs or Gloves – Protect fingers from the bowstring during release

  6. Arm Guards – Shield the inner forearm from string contact during shooting

Technique

  1. Stance and Posture

    • Feet shoulder-width apart, body aligned to target, relaxed yet firm posture

  2. Nocking the Arrow

    • Placing the arrow on the string with the nock seated correctly under the nocking point

  3. Drawing and Anchoring

    • Pulling the string back smoothly and anchoring the hand at a consistent point (e.g., chin or jaw)

  4. Aiming and Release

    • Using sights or instinctive aiming to line up the shot, then releasing the string with minimal movement

  5. Follow-Through

    • Holding the form briefly after the shot to maintain accuracy and ensure consistency
