Ice Hockey Player Positions

1. Goalie (Goalkeeper)

  • Protects the net by blocking shots using pads, stick, and body.
  • Stays primarily in the crease area and directs the defense.

2. Defensemen (2 players)

  • Positioned near their own goal to stop opposing forwards.
  • Responsible for blocking shots, breaking up plays, and starting offensive attacks.
  • Usually play as left defense and right defense.

3. Forwards (3 players)

  • Center: Takes faceoffs, leads offensive plays, supports defense, and often plays all over the ice.
  • Left Wing: Positioned on the left side; focuses on scoring and creating offensive opportunities.
  • Right Wing: Positioned on the right side with similar offensive duties as the left wing.
